When Did Your Heart First Open in Compassion?
"A powerful narrative...makes a compelling case."
—Dr. Shannon Brincat, Research Fellow, Griffith University.
Have you been touched and inspired by animals? Are you called to care for them? Do you consider the species we share this planet with to be our fellow spirits—and certainly not our dinners?

Editors Gypsy Wulff and Fran Chambers have gathered a beautiful collection of personal stories from many of today’s most eloquent, passionate, and intellectually progressive voices. These luminaries of today's growing Animal Rights movement challenge common perceptions of our relationships with animals—and the environment we all share.

“This collection of awakenings—sourced worldwide from many of the most eloquent, passionate and intellectually progressive voices—is bound to be the turning point for many…”—Dr. Craig Quarmby, A Gentle Place, Tasmania, Australia.

With a powerful blend of compassion and honesty, the writers in Turning Points in Compassion share the pivotal, life-changing moments that awakened them to an awareness of animals—not as objects—but as precious living creatures. With opened eyes, hearts, and minds, these advocates describe their transitions into a new world of compassionate living and understanding. This book will touch the hearts of people everywhere and challenge us all to do more for our world—and the many species that call it home.

About the authors:

Turning Points in Compassion is an ambitious project that covers a range of topics from politics and law to spiritual and social change. West Australian author, publisher and teacher Gypsy Wulff and co-editor Fran Chambers have collected the personal journeys of animal advocates from around the world and woven them into a tapestry that provides insight, education and understanding.

“I write when I feel there is something to say. There is so much going on in the world, including much needless suffering. I envision a world of beauty, care, harmony, kindness, support and understanding. So many would dismiss this vision as idealistic and unachievable but I believe it’s a matter of choice for so many of us.

The currency of money has replaced the currency of giving and caring and until that changes, suffering continues. I didn’t start writing/editing until I started animal advocacy work. No day goes by when I don’t want to speak for and about the animals. It’s a continual source of motivation and inspiration to help them gain their freedom from oppression. The majority of people care and with the right information they are able to make choices that bring that care into action.”

Gypsy founded SpiritWings Humane Education in 2014. She has written a series of children’s books about kindness to animals and the care of the planet. Teaching both children and adults in a variety of capacities, her career in education has spanned four decades.

All proceeds from the sale of her books are donated to animal sanctuaries and rescue groups.
