**My thoughts**
Ah, the nostalgia of a family home and not wanting to let go of it. I think I felt that part of the story right in my very core, coming from a family that had been in business in a small city for over 80 years. Laura does everything she can to prevent the loss of this beloved inn, because it really is her life's dream to maintain. And of course, Jonathan needs this deal to go through so that he can achieve his dream of making partner. And yet the two of them cannot deny their attraction to each other. They have fantastic banter right from the start, demonstrating a chemistry that you know is going to have win out in spite of their differences in goals for this inn. You know they're going to have to find a way to make this work to the advantage of both of them, because you want them to make it work. Bonus points for how good Jonathan is with Laura's daughter, which is of the utmost importance.

Just as charming and taking a major role in this book is the setting. I haven't been to Cape Cod since I was very young, but I felt like I was right there experiencing every single food, store, and sight along with them. I really want to go back and experience all it has to offer. Bonus points if I could somehow actually find my way into this precise setting of the book.

Another thing that I appreciated with this book was that while it is considered a Christian romance, and faith is extremely important, particularly to Laura, it wasn't in-your-face about it. I feel like that helps to open it up to a broader audience that is looking for a sweet, feel-good romance to enjoy.

And can I just say that I think this would be a great contender for a Hallmark-type movie?

Thank you to the author, publisher, and Prism Book Tours for providing me with a requested review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

An Agent for Madeleine (Pinkerton Matchmaker Series) by Jo Grafford

Madeleine Caruthers has been madly in love with her pastor for over a year, but (despite the fact she is convinced the attraction is mutual) he’s made it clear he’s married to the church and his job. So when her friends in Texas send her a frantic summons, she doesn’t think twice about signing on as a Pinkerton agent to assist them in their quest to bring a dangerous cattle rustling gang to justice. As far as she’s concerned, women can marry their jobs, too.

Pastor Josh Michaelson hates the fact that he’s not in the position to court the lovely Madeleine, but he can’t stand the thought of dragging her into the dangers of his life as an undercover Pinkerton agent. When she suddenly departs for Texas, he prays she will find someone out west who will love her and cherish her the way she deserves. He doesn’t expect to get called to work a case in Texas, himself, nor does he (not even in his wildest dreams) expect to be asked to join hands in temporary matrimony upon his arrival — with none other than the woman of his dreams!

How Sweet It Is
(Lagacy of Faith, #3)
By Robin Lee Hatcher
Christian Contemporary Romance
Paperback, Audiobook & ebook, 304 Pages
July 14th 2020 by Thomas Nelson

He lost his brother. She lost her dream. Together, they might find what they’re really looking for.

Holly Stanford is doing the best she can with the restaurant she inherited from her late uncle. But after her fiancé abandons her and the business, Holly regrets having given up her dream of becoming a pastry chef. Now a few bad financial decisions might cost her everything, including her hope for the future.

Jed Henning has done well with his new company despite his prodigal brother’s behavior. When Jed‘s father, the controlling member of the board of directors, temporarily suspends operations until his sons work out their differences, Jed resentfully chases his brother, Chris, to Boise. There Jed rents a basement apartment from Holly and hopes to convince Chris to get his act together before their company collapses.

Unaware that Holly is the one person who can help him get through to Chris, Jed starts the tough work of reconciliation armed with little more than a few family photographs, a stack of old letters, and a Bible that belonged to his great-grandfather, Andrew Henning. And as romance blossoms between Holly and Jed, the story of Jed’s great-grandfather highlights the power of God across the generations and the legacy of a family’s courageous faith.

Read an exclusive excerpt:
His smile made a shiver run down her spine. A pleasurable kind of shiver. One of anticipation. Something flickered in his eyes. Understanding, perhaps. With it, his smile faded. His eyes seemed to darken as he gazed intently into hers. His right hand rose to cup her cheek, the flat of his hand gentle against her skin. She couldn’t help but press into it. She was tempted to close her eyes, but she didn’t want to break the look passing between them. His face drew closer. Was this happening?

“Holly.” He whispered her name, as soft as a caress.

She feared her knees would buckle. Breathe, she reminded herself. Just breathe.

When their lips met, she closed her eyes and gave herself over to the wonderful sensations that swirled through her. She hadn’t known how much she’d wanted to be kissed by him until it happened.

His hand moved from the side of her face to the small of her back, freeing her to lift her arms to encircle his neck. At the same time, she rose on tiptoes, wanting more, wanting all. Her former fears, her excessive caution—it was all forgotten.

Of course, the kiss had to end eventually. It was Jed who drew back first, forcing Holly to look at him again. His dark eyes seemed to smolder, and her stomach tumbled in response. Then a slow smile tipped the corners of his mouth.

“This isn’t the setting where I expected that to happen.”

“You expected me to kiss you?” Amusement filled her question, and she realized how happy she felt. Happier than she’d felt in such a long time.

“Imagined it, then.”

“Oh, you’ve been imagining it.”

His voice deepened. “More than you know, Ms. Stanford. More than you know.”

She laughed aloud.

Jed glanced toward the band of sheep, and she followed his gaze to discover the sheepherder watching them and grinning. Jed gave the man a wave. “We have an audience.”

“So I see.” She waved to the sheepherder too. “It’s only fair, I suppose. You were taking pictures of him and his sheep.”

Jed chuckled. “At least he doesn’t have a camera.” He looked at her again. “Come on. We’d better start back to the car.”

She wished she could refuse. She wished they could stay right there and she could relive the kiss all over again. But then he placed his arm around her shoulders, and she realized she would have gone with him wherever he wanted to go.
