Selene Ravenwood, once the heir to House Ravenwood, is now an exile. On the run and free of her family's destiny, Selene hopes to find the real reason her family was given the gift of dreamwalking. But first she must adapt to her new life as wife to Lord Damien Maris, the man she was originally assigned to kill.

While adjusting to her marriage and her home in the north, her power over dreams begins to grow. As the strongest dreamwalker to exist in ages, her expanding power attracts not only nightmares but the attention of the Dark Lady herself.

With a war looming on the horizon and a wicked being after her gift, Selene is faced with a choice: embrace the Dark Lady's offer, or search out the one who gave her the gift of dreamwalking. One path offers power, the other offers freedom. But time is running out, and soon her choice will be made for her.

Read an excerpt:
Lady Ragna placed her hand on one of the stone ravens that flanked the throne and gazed out over the men. Her hair was pulled over her shoulder and her gown followed her curves. She raised her dark eyes and spoke. “House Maris has taken my daughter and fled. Lady Selene must be brought back at all costs.”
Captain Stanton glanced up. “And what if the water-wall has been raised between our lands?”
“See if there is a weakness or a place where you can cross. They are over two days ahead. If you can cross, you can reach them before Lord Maris makes his way back to Nor Esen.”
“And what do we do if we catch up to Lord Maris?”
She narrowed her eyes. “Whatever you must to get Lady Selene back.”
“Anything?”
“He has broken faith with our house and our people.”
Captain Stanton bowed in acknowledgment. “And if we can’t cross?”
“Then set up a patrol along the entire Hyr River. Lord Damien is young and inexperienced. He can’t keep the wall up forever. The moment it comes down, send a message by raven.”
Captain Stanton pressed a fist to his chest and stood. His men stood with him. “Yes, my lady.” He shouted out a command, and the men turned around and started for the double doors in the back. Amara stepped deeper into the shadows and watched from beneath the hood of her cloak as the men departed.
When the last man left and the doors closed, Amara turned to approach her mother when another man appeared from the left side of the throne. She paused beside one of the stone columns, just out of sight, and frowned. What man had the privilege to approach her mother unannounced and unbidden?
“You don’t really believe Lord Maris took Lady Selene, do you?” the man asked, dark humor in his voice.
“No. It is she who led Lord Maris away from the castle through the underground tunnels. And she will pay for that.”
Amara’s body stilled. Selene betrayed their house? She blinked, hardly believing what her mother had said. Selene? The heir of Ravenwood? The one destined to bring their house to greatness?
Her mother continued to speak to the stranger, but Amara could not hear their words above the pounding of her own heart. What had possessed her sister to do such a thing? Not that she loved Selene, but never did she think her sister was capable of such duplicity—and to leave with House Maris of all families? What was Selene thinking?
To betray their mother . . .
A burning hope sprang up within her heart. Amara lifted her hand and stared down at her palm. With Selene gone, this could be her chance. Her gifting would arrive any day now, and when it did, she could become what her sister had thrown away.

Lady Selene is the heir to the Great House of Ravenwood and the secret family gift of dreamwalking. As a dreamwalker, she can enter a person’s dreams and manipulate their greatest fears or desires. For the last hundred years, the Ravenwood women have used their gift of dreaming for hire to gather information or to assassinate.

As she discovers her family’s dark secret, Selene is torn between upholding her family’s legacy–a legacy that supports her people–or seeking the true reason behind her family’s gift.

Her dilemma comes to a head when she is tasked with assassinating the one man who can bring peace to the nations, but who will also bring about the downfall of her own house.

One path holds glory and power, and will solidify her position as Lady of Ravenwood. The other path holds shame and execution. Which will she choose? And is she willing to pay the price for the path chosen?
