Britt Bradford and Zander Ford have been the best of friends since they met thirteen years ago. Unbeknown to Britt, Zander has been in love with her for just as long.
Independent and adventurous Britt channels her talent into creating chocolates at her hometown shop. Zander is a bestselling author who's spent the past 18 months traveling the world. He's achieved a great deal but still lacks the only thing that ever truly mattered to him--Britt's heart.
When Zander's uncle dies of mysterious causes, he returns to Merryweather, Washington, to investigate, and Britt is immediately there to help. Although this throws them into close proximity, both understand that an attempt at romance could jeopardize their once-in-a-lifetime friendship. But while Britt is determined to resist any change in their relationship, Zander finds it increasingly difficult to keep his feelings hidden.
As they work together to uncover his uncle's tangled past, will the truth of what lies between them also, finally, come to light?

**My thoughts**
I found this book to be absolutely delightful. I already love stories of best friends falling in love with each other. Knowing that Britt was a chocolatier was appealing, because I just love stories of characters who work in the food industry. You get some great recipes and inspiration for dishes to try at home. And of course there is the mystery aspect, revolving around the truth of his father's past and the setting just outside of Seattle.
The development of the relationship between Britt and Zander is intricately woven with their investigation into Zaner's Uncle Frank's past, in a perfect blend of the two types of stories. You have just enough intrigue without all of the drama. I felt a maturity in the storytelling that was refreshing to read. It felt like the author had really taken her time and given a lot of thought into every aspect of the story. Previous books are alluded to, but not necessary to have read in order to appreciate this one. I will say that I need to read the other ones, though, because now I want to know the stories of the other sisters and people in this book.
