Thoughts: Meditations for Your Spiritual Walk by Brandon Champney

Thoughts: Meditations for Your Spiritual Walk

Join me on a spiritual journey as I share tidbits of thought on topics such as Faith, Hope, Love, Vision, Trust, Success, Spirit, Possibility in Thoughts, Meditations for Your Daily Spiritual Walk. We can all use insight and depth of understanding to feed our soul and spirit, helping us on whatever path to enlightenment we find ourselves. In a world which tries to deplete, on a daily basis, our spiritual reserves, it is good to fill oneself up. However, one can.

Each topic filled with helpful and encouraging insight lifts up and inspires, rejuvenating one's inner being with a fresh outlook on life. What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? What price can we put on the needs we have as spiritual beings to transcend the seen to realms in which we soar on wings like eagles and plant our feet firmly on mountain tops.

The change will come when your vision overshadows the force which keeps you from moving forward and changing. When the vision for your life is greater than your momentary desires, you will change. You have spent your life acting on your desires, make your vision, your desire, and you will act on it. The thing is to allow that vision to grow, to plant it within and water it. A vision for a better life, to see things new, to cast off the things which entangle.

The goal is to come to believe so firmly in the vision. Don't get down on yourself. Don't focus on the moment whether you happen to think you are doing well or not doing so good, set it aside. Keep building the vision within you and you will naturally and comfortably make the small changes which bring about significant changes. If you create the view for yourself, your actions will follow. You will increasingly not want to do things which jeopardize your vision. It is all a matter of time, it is inevitable, your desire will burn inside you. Fuel the flame and you will achieve what you believe. Don't look at where you are at the moment it doesn't matter, look rather to where you are going.

Nurture within you the best vision for your life; your mind can imagine. Imagine how it will feel to be on this journey. Make it increasingly clear within your mind's eye. Imagine how it will be to love and to be loved; to have joy and peace and real lasting happiness. To have self-control and determination, to not judge yourself or others, to have a real purpose and meaning in your life. To feel confident and truly believe in the things you hold dearest to your heart. To extinguish all the flaming darts life throws at you. To have a growing faith which shines. Dream; the universe is open to you.

Remember when you were a child, and you couldn't wait for the next day. When you woke, you jumped out of bed and ran to do the thing you wanted to do. Wouldn't it be great even to have a portion of it back into your life, where you look forward to where your life is going? Life can beat you down to the point you feel stuck. Where you feel nothing will ever change. Envision a new life, one in which the possibilities are endless, and you have it within you to grab hold of it and make it yours. Open your eyes wide, take a deep breath, watch the sunrise on a new day, smile, you will renew your strength. You will mount up with wings like eagles. You will run and not get tired; you will walk and not grow weary. Isaiah 40:31

'Meditating Moments' by Cynthia Denise Brown

I believe that God speaks to us and instructs us in the precious, quiet moments of life. In the still of silence, meditation, and reflection, lies God’s 'impartation 'of knowledge and wisdom. I wrote Meditating Moments for these reasons: I enjoy writing, I need to relax, I love teaching through the art of storytelling. More importantly, I am obliged to share God’s vision with others. I hope that you enjoy Meditating Moments. It’s a book of spiritually-inspired, short stories of encouragement, empowerment and comedy. And yes, I included some adult COLORING PAGES! Coloring is a great stress reliever. As a children’s author, I am proud to have a child’s imagination. Coloring takes me right back to kindergarten! So, adults grab your crayons, find your perfect meditating spot and let’s go back to kindergarten, while we reflect on God’s word with Meditating Moments! Enjoy, Cbrown.

PREFACE
Like most people, I wear many hats: I am a minister’s wife, a mother and an author. I try to be active in my local community. Although I complain about the ‘self-inflicted’ wounds of my hectic schedule, I am no hypocrite: I admit that my life motor thrives on the fuel of mayhem. Nonetheless, I indeed realize when I need to slow down, take a pause and relax. More importantly, I know when I must yield to God’s voice.

I believe that God speaks to us and instructs us in the precious, quiet moments of life. In the still of silence, meditation, and reflection, lies God’s impartation of knowledge and wisdom.

I wrote Meditating Moments for these reasons: I enjoy writing, I need to relax, I love teaching through the art of storytelling. More importantly, I am obliged to share God’s vision with others.

Following is a snapshot of the stories. Please enjoy Meditating Moments.

20151119-REL-Jane_Bowyer-1179About the author:

I grew up on a hill in the north of England. From a young age, I wanted to live in London. As a child, during the depths of night, I'd often listen to the hum of passing trains. Sometimes I'd run to my bedroom window hoping to catch a glimpse so that I could pretend that I too was travelling on one, speeding along, London bound, like the rest of the world was sleeping.
So one day in my late teens, I bought a one-way ticket and travelled to London with just £30.00 in my pocket and a bit of blind faith.

In my novel The Last Days of Lisa, (that I’m still writing), the main character Lisa mirrors how overwhelming it was for me to see London for the first time through the eyes of a teenager travelling alone….

‘London never rests, she thinks. It’s on speed. A vortex, absorbing everything. Running from its own stench but also basking in it. Seemingly superficial and plastic to those not enchanted by its ambivalent charms. London has a soul; a ravenous appetite that feeds on the egos of the thousands that flock here each day to get closer to their dreams. ‘

Not long after moving to London, yoga and writing graced my life. I think they both saved me. On the writing front the spark came after reading the book, Catcher in the Rye. I’d not had the opportunity to study much as a child but that didn’t matter now as this book blew me away.

“If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you’ll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of c—p, but I don’t feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.” J.D Salinger

As for yoga, another book in the form of a second-hand yoga book written back in the 1960’s made its way into my mitts via a second-hand bookstore.

As I’d said earlier, to start with I wasn’t very good at either. Dyslexia and lack of flexibility and poor posture were my obstacles. I could see beyond that though as both yoga and writing offered me hope and possibilities that before this I hadn’t ever thought possible. Before yoga and writing I believed I was useless and had nothing to offer the world.

So I worked hard at studying for more than a decade. The author John Harding was the first teacher to believe in me. After studying writing under his inspiring tuition, I even managed to get a few novels published along the way.

On the yoga side, I studied both Hatha and later Kundalini yoga and despite not being naturally flexible nor a person who liked to sit still. It was in India back in 2004 that I had my first awakening experience.

During all this time, I also managed over the years to work my way up from an office junior job to a finally a supervisor position, having worked for most of my life in a string of unfulfilling office jobs. The good news that in October 2015 I left office work to become The Word Sprite full time!

The silver lining in all of this is through my personal experience of having to be creative with my time I came up with the concept of yoga and holistic solutions for modern day living. Hence, this is how The Word Sprite was born!
